This metabolic cart is useful for measuring breath-by-breath oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production in exercising subjects. With built-in LabScribe2 analysis software, the system is capable of measuring and calculating rates of oxygen consumption, rates of carbon dioxide production, respiratory exchange ratios, basal metabolic rates, aerobic capacities, and others. The range of analysis functions make the unit useful for research applications in cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and respiratory physiology.
