The Axio Scan.Z1, an automated microscope from Carl Zeiss Microscopy, allows researchers to digitalize fixed tissue sections and cytologic specimens in bright-field and fluorescence.  As many as 100 microscope slides can be digitized at one time. The Axio Scan.Z1 captures the entire specimen area of the microscope slide, including the edge.

High Throughput Serial Block Face Imaging

JEOL and Gatan announced a joint initiative that brings Serial Block Face imaging to the JEOL family of scanning electron microscopes. Researchers will be able to image 3D structures of biological and materials samples at ultrahigh resolution using the JEOL JSM-7100F Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope with an integrated Gatan 3View Serial Block Face Imaging System.

Super-Resolution System for 3D Localization Microscopy

Extending its portfolio of super-resolution microscopy products, Leica launched the Leica SR GSD 3D, a widefield system that offers 2D and 3D super-resolution imaging of molecules and cellular structures. Based on GSD (Ground State Depletion) or dSTORM technology, the widefield fluorescence microscope attains resolutions of down to 20 nm in the lateral and 50 nm in the axial direction.

Olympus America introduced a benchtop commercial microscope system designed to acquire very low-light bioluminescence images. The LV200 stand-alone microscope system is already being used to capture images of living cells and tissues by researchers in Europe and Japan. When used with some of the latest luminescence probes, it can provide sub-second imaging with clarity and brilliance.
