Pfizer Inc. says that its board approved a 9 percent increase in its common stock dividend, to 24 cents from 22 cents.

The New York-based drugmaker said Monday the quarterly dividend will be paid on March 5 to shareholders of record as of Feb. 1.

Pfizer shares rose 24 cents to $25.42 in midday trading.
