The Nanomite infuses or withdraws small liquid samples directly to or from an animal on a stereotaxic frame. Mounting the pump directly on the frame reduces the distance between the pump and the injection site so small amounts of sample can be infused or withdrawn automatically without any waste. A blue LED run indicator flashes while the pump is running in the volume dispensing mode and is on solid when running in the pumping mode. The light is bright enough so that even from across the room the user can tell if the pump is running or if it is stopped. The pump can be controlled with a computer via RS 232 or using the integral keyboard. An external footswitch may also be used to control the flow start and stop.
