HSE-HA MicroVent provides optimal ventilation for prenatal mice, birds and other very small animals. It is small enough to be placed close to the animal, resulting in minimal dead space volume. Minimal dead space is integral to proper ventilation. This is especially true in prenatal mice and other small animals as larger volumes introduce greater system compliance and effect the accuracy of the tidal volume delivery. The unit can be connected to anesthesia for surgery, to a nebulizer and multi-gas adapter for aerosol drug delivery, or can be used alone for straight ventilation. Rates of 60 to 400 breaths/minute are provided, and the unit has a stroke volume from 0 to 130 µl. Stroke volume may be adjusted while the ventilator is running. It is easy to use and provides reliable and safe operation.
