Human Glucose Transport Antibodies

Human glucose transport (Glut) are antibodies validated for use in flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. Glut1, 2, 3 and 5 are integral membrane proteins that belong to the facilitative glucose transport protein family. Glut1 is a major glucose transporter that mediates glucose mobilization across the mammalian blood-brain barrier. It is highly expressed by erythrocytes and brain endothelial and glial cells. Glut2 is a low-affinity glucose transporter that may function as a glucose sensor in pancreatic beta-cells to facilitate either glucose uptake or efflux from cells, depending on their nutritional state. It is expressed predominantly in liver, intestine, kidney and pancreatic beta-cells. Glut3 is the glucose transporter responsible for maintaining an adequate glucose supply to neurons. It is expressed by neurons, articular chondrocytes and placenta. Glut5 transports fructose in intestine and testis as well as other tissues.
