A new technique in protein structure determination is made possible with Small Angle X-Ray Scattering (SAXS) cells developed by Aline Corp. (Redondo Beach, CA) in collaboration with researchers at Cornell University (J Biol Chem, Dec. 15, 2006). Its application provides a tool which, when used in combination with other techniques, allows elucidation and correlation of the functional and structural domains of different classes of proteins and protein complexes in solution. The cells simplify the task of filling and sealing concentrated protein samples. The custom bio micro cell fabricated using a proprietary laminate manufacturing platform is about the size of a dime.
