Lacromin recombinant human lactoferrin A recombinant protein is available through a collaboration between SeraCare Life Sciences and Ventria Bioscience. Lacromin, used in applications where transferrin and FBS might be used, is derived from rice, and thus is completely animal-free. An 80-kD glycoprotein in the transferrin family, lactoferrin supports iron transport and cell growth, and occurs in its most concentrated from in mother’s milk. Lacromin is available in four different package sizes.
