DeCypher software and reconfigurable hardware components improve SPU performance for BLAST, HMM, Smith-Waterman and gene modeling analyses, yet are easy to maintain and install. Each application is available as an individual, turnkey solution that can be extended over time (even across multiple servers). DeCypher 7.5, just released, includes a Web interface that enables users to easily build personal target databases for simple and rapid annotation of their sequence collections. GeneDetective, a new gene modeling application, is now available for existing DeCypher systems and as a standalone solution. The application utilizes DeCypher to map cDNAs, ESTs, and protein sequences to genomic regions for accurate gene models and alternative splicing studies. A zoom-able view is provided of intron/exon structure, and multiple sequence alignments can be generated to identify primers for amplification of exons of interest.
