Knowledge Modeling System
Genstruct's Molecular Epistemics platform enables the identification of mechanisms of action for small molecule drugs, mechanisms of drug resistance and potential biological markers to support decision making on clinical compounds. The platform also allows Genstruct to identify novel control points and unique drug targets within biological networks. At the core of the platform is a knowledge modeling system that represents biological knowledge in a form that enables the application of automated reasoning and logical modeling. Knowledge models are implemented using Biological Case Frame templates, proprietary logical representation of biology. The templates are used to develop comprehensive knowledge collections that form the basis for logical models of biology, known as Knowledge Assembly models. Knowledge Assembly models are further developed specifically for each experimental system being interrogated, and are logically interpreted using the automated reasoning capabilities of the Epistemics Engine system. The input to this platform is a set of high-throughput biological measurements that describe state changes directed by disease or compound activity, and the outputs are testable hypotheses for drug action, biomarkers, and validated targets. The Molecular Epistemics discovery platform is deployed independently and in partnership with pharmaceutical companies to streamline drug discovery and improve clinical trial design and implementation.
