Automated 2-dimensional Electrophoresis
Bench-top 2D gel electrophoresis system a2DE™ is fully automated, removing the labor-intensive phases of manual 2D electrophoresis. Hydration of a choice of IPG strips, subsequent iso-electric focusing, equilibration, transfer to the second dimension and resolution by SDS-PAGE are performed without user intervention. Reproducibility is increased as the scope for variability and error is reduced. Precision dispensing technology and microfluidics systems enable automated gel casting to specified acrylamide gradients (both linear and non-linear). This optimizes separation and achieves high protein resolution. Three gels can be run in parallel, increasing throughput. A proprietary power supply delivers sharp first dimension bands and reduces focusing times. The system fits into existing laboratory workflows, being compatible with sample preparation techniques, downstream robotics and mass spectrometry.
