Virtual Slide Viewing Software
New software packages are available for viewing multi-gigabyte digital images (virtual slides) directly on a monitor from anywhere in the world. When used in telepathology or education, this software eliminates the need to send glass slides or a pathologist from one location to another. A virtual slide is a high-resolution digital image of an entire glass slide that can efficiently be viewed, panned, and zoomed on a computer monitor. ImageScope™ Viewer is a full-screen virtual slide viewing application, featuring rapid panning and zooming, dynamic color adjustment, side-by-side image comparison, and annotation display and authoring tools. It can be used with local images, or remotely across a network for telepathology applications. Web Viewer has been developed exclusively for virtual slides. Web pages are delivered as standard HTML, compatible with any browser and platform. No client software, plug-ins, controls, or applets are required. Connection speed is automatically sensed and image quality is adjusted accordingly.
