Microplate Cytometer Measures Blue Fluorescent Protein Reporter Systems
Acumen Explorer 405 microplate cytometer is offered in a model with a single violet (405 nm) laser excitation source. The new version enables the β-lactamase and blue fluorescent protein reporter systems which, until now, have routinely been measured by bulk fluorescence readers as single point readouts. In contrast, Acumen Explorer offers multi-parametric analysis at high throughput allowing rapid, high content assays. By exploiting the ratiometric detection of fluorescent enzyme substrates on a cell-by-cell basis, the 405 provides sensitivity on plate formats ranging from 96 to 3456 wells. Compatibility with quantum dots is enhanced, as the instrument increases the intensity of fluorescent emission by up to four-fold compared to its sister instrument. Use of quantum dots expands the multiplexing capability of the Acumen Explorer, particularly in immunological detection methodologies.
