With their chemical inertness, resistance to protein binding, and optical properties, the ceramic materials and coatings provide an ideal environment for microarray slides used in the analysis of DNA and proteins. Along with traditional light-colored ceramic materials, they offer dark-colored ceramics for microarrays, which do not reflect light or interfere with florescence tracking during sample analysis. Zirconia Toughened Alumina (ZTA), machinable glass ceramic (Macor®) and high-purity alumina ceramics are among the materials offered for these demanding applications.
