Image Blots, Small Animals

LAS-4000 luminescent image analyzer is suited for multi-spectral Western blotting and in vivo imaging of small animals with expanded fluorescent capabilities. The latest version of these CCD-based camera systems (FujiFilm Life Science, USA) adds epi-ultraviolet (UV) and epi-near-infrared (IR) illuminators, coupled with in-vivo imaging of small animal samples. The UV light source allows the use quantum dots for in vitro applications like multi-spectral Western blotting. IR capabilities enable deeper penetration of excitation light for high-sensitivity small animal in vivo imaging using long wavelength fluorochromes like Cy7 and Alexa Fluor 750. The instrument provides six interchangeable light sources, a five-position filter turret and a 3.2 megapixel Super CCD imaging chip cooled to 㪶 C for decreased noise during longer exposures. The FUJINON lens, with an F-stop number of 0.85, can capture images from distances as short as several tens of centimeters. Applicable reagents include, but are not limited to, ECL and ECL Plus, Alexa Fluor, Cy, and Sybro dyes and ethidium bromide and silver stains.
