BioWorks 3.2 protein identification software suite enables scientists and researchers to quickly and accurately identify proteins. The software supports Thermo Electron Corporation’s entire range of Finnigan ion trap mass spectrometers. The package utilizes the SEQUEST algorithm for searching protein databases: Probability-based scoring complements traditional SEQUEST scores. A new unified search results file format speeds data analysis and supports mass searching. The stable isotope quantitation algorithm and protein area/height calculation have been improved in version 3.2. The application also provides increased support to instruments such as Finnigan vMALDI equipped mass spectrometers. BioWorks automatically identifies proteins by comparing experimental tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) data with standard protein and DNA databases. The application can automatically analyze a single spectrum or an entire LC/MS/MS peptide map. Proteins can be analyzed in mixtures. The SEQUEST algorithm can extract information and correctly identify proteins even at low concentrations that generate a weak signal. Thermo Electron Corp.
