50-mW Diode Lasers
The Radius 405 diode laser is a 50-mW self-contained diode laser operating at 405 nm. The continuous-wave laser featuresa cylindrical housing with drive electronics and a cooling fan integrated within the laser head. This configuration, which is the same diameter as standard Helium Neon lasers, simplifies integration into OEM systems and instruments. Other product features include active thermoelectric (TE) diode cooling and CW light-loop control, which delivers low noise and high stability. A CDRH-compliant version is also available for laboratory applications and includes a mini-control unit that integrates a key switch, emission indicator, interlock, and 5-second power-on delay. Rmote interlock supports on-demand operation, increasing the lifetime of the diode as well as the overall product. Applications for the Radius 405-50 are primarily biomedical, as the 405 nm wavelength is ideal for exciting short wavelength dyes and fluorescent markers. Other applications include flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and emerging pharma applications such as microwell and microarray readers.
