ERKO Mouse Model
Proprietary ERKO-Β (Estrogen Receptor-beta) Targeted Mutation mouse model can be used to examine the role of estrogen receptors in both reproductive and non-reproductive development. Investigators are using the model to study fertility and sexual behavior and cardiovascular system and bone homeostasis. In this model the esr2 gene, which encodes an amino acid of about 60 kDa, is disrupted in the embryonic stem cells but the esr1 gene, the alpha estrogen receptor, is not and remains functional.
