Robotic Liquid Handling System
THEONYX liquid handling system integrates fluidics, pumps, motors and electronics within its robotic arm. This provides better control of fluidics, a more open deck, ease of upgrades and service, and low maintenance costs. A unique pipetting system delivers volumes of less than 1 μl to more than 3 ml without tip exchanges, adaptations, or compromises in accuracy or precision. This lends the system to plasmid miniprep and sequencing applications. Each pipette needle can be independently controlled. The arm can be outfitted with 1, 4 or 8 tips with easy field retrograde options. Plug and play design means that modules can be loaded or exchanged in seconds. Eliminating syringes reduces maintenance and allows a wider range of liquids to be used (including DMSO and methanol). Variable tip spacing provides flexibility when handling a variety of vessel formats. Independent Z-axis control allows sample cherry picking. System speed is improved, even with irregularly spaced vessels. Each unit accommodates a wide selection of add-on modules, such as a thermal cycler, microplate reader, and cooled or heated microplate stacker.
