The RepCell96 is a 96-well cell culture plate that does not require enzymatic processing to remove viable cells. This technology involves a proprietary plate coating where the hydrophobicity of the plate surface is temperature responsive. Above 32 C, the plate surface is hydrophobic, which permits cells to adhere and grow easily. As the temperature drops, the surface becomes more hydrophilic, allowing for the natural release of cells from the substrate. Cell viability is enhanced, especially with more fragile cell cultures such as stem cells, neurons and macrophages. Since the intact extra cellular matrix is preserved, tissue engineered and regenerative medicine constructs can be harvested in contiguous cell sheets instead of isolated cells. Without enzymatic processing, cell harvesting is also faster and easier.
