Human Cytochrome c TiterZyme EIA Kit provides quantitative determination of human Cytochrome c in cell lysates and serum. The kit plays a role in apoptosis by suppressing the anti-apoptotic proteins or activating the pro-apoptotic proteins. This leads to an altered mitochondrial membrane permeability resulting in release of Cytochrome c into the cytosol. Cytochrome c is expressed in most human tissues, and levels of Cytochrome c have been implicated in Parkinson’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease and a variety of cancers. The colorimetric 96-well plate format precisely measures Cytochrome c concentration with a range of 28.13 pg/ml to 900 pg/ml in approximately 3 hours, making Western blotting obsolete. This ELISA kit is non-radioactive, stable and sensitive to 5.4 pg/ml. In addition, the ELISA has been validated for both cytosolic and mitochondrial cell fractions.
