Centrifuge Packages Provide Biocontainment
Biosafety initiative for the Beckman Coulter's benchtop, high-performance and ultracentrifugation systems provides multiple levels of biocontainment for laboratory safety. New labware, rotors and hardware options are now packaged together to meet demand for biosafe protocols. Applications include biomedical research and testing, handling of biologicals, vaccine production facilities and biodefense programs. Biosafe labware includes transparent Aerosolve canisters and biocertified covers; disposable HarvestLine System Liners that retain the pelleted sample for direct decanting, immediate use or freezing; and one-touch sealing OptiSeal rotor tubes that eliminate the need for tube puncturing or sealing tools. A range of Biosafety Certified Rotors is offered, which have been independently tested by third party facilities. These rotors include a patented fluid containment annulus and dual-locking lid. Large-volume canister systems provide a secure seal with an integrated filter to prevent aerosol contamination. The Avanti J Series and Optima Series floor and tabletop ultracentrifuges are now offered with HEPA filtration for protection against hazardous aerosols and splashes. Tabletop ultracentrifuges can be placed into a biocontainment hood for an additional level of security.
