Multi-Angle Light Scattering Detector

DAWN HELEOS Multi-Angle Light Scattering (MALS) Detector (Wyatt Technology) can incorporate both MALS and QELS (Quasi-Elastic Light Scattering). Offering more than twice the sensitivity of Wyatt’s DAWN EOS, the new HELEOS is capable of achieving a dynamic range of 126 dB, enabling the instrument to virtually never go off scale. This results in fast sample runs and offers a wide range of sample concentrations. The instrument utilizes a 24 bit A/D measurement system, with separate A/Ds for each detector channel. This provides the same sensitivity over the entire range of scattering intensities, rendering post-detector amplifiers unnecessary. An air-cooled Peltier system regulates sample temperature, allowing the process to operate at temperatures between 0 C and 150 C, and achieving a stability greater than 0.01 C. Signals can be imported from a variety of third party instruments, such as UV absorption, DRI, IR absorption, evaporative light scattering or photodiode array detectors.
