Compact BIOSTAT B Plus Twin bioreactor-fermentor accommodates two autoclavable culture vessels with a choice of 1-l to 10-l working volumes. The integrated system concept includes a stainless steel cabinet housing the control, thermostat, aeration and stirrer systems, as well as integrated peristaltic pumps. This global standardized system with graphical user interface and touch screen operation offers logical action-oriented operation of the bioprocess. Its versatility makes it useful in fundamental and applied research applications with bacterial, yeast, fungal, plant, insect and mammalian cultures. The Twin Control System integrates all of the necessary actuator outputs, as well as amplifiers for temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, foam and level/nutrient feed, and gas mix. Four application-driven gassing systems are available. The maintenance-free high torque servomotor assembly for each vessel offers a speed range from 20 to 2000 rpm. For jacketed vessels, an integral thermostat uses an electric heater and pulsed solenoid valve for cooling water to ensure precise temperature control, with rapid heating and cooling rates. UniVessel culture vessels with 1, 2, 5 or 10-l working volume are available in either single wall or jacketed glass.
