Color Digital Camera For Fluorescence Microscopy Documentation

The Nikon Instruments Eclipse DXM1200F color digital camera has an output capability of up to 12 million pixels and is specifically designed to accommodate fluorescence lighting techniques. A new CCD chip produces images at a sensitivity of up to 2.5 times higher than its predecessor. The result is enhanced and faster image capture in low-illumination applications such as fluorescence, DIC, and dark-field observations. High signal to noise ratios are achieved with improved quantum efficiency. Streaming, data-transfer occurs at 12 frames/sec at 640 × 512-pixel, live-image display. Having an exposure time that is one-half that of its predecessor, the camera provides high efficiency live-image focusing and alignment and reduced specimen fading during fluorescence applications. Color fidelity and low-noise design enable the capture of clear fluorescence images and high-speed data transfer from the camera to a computer. A wide-field relay lens matches the detector's field of view. The camera attaches to any microscope C-mount. Zoom capabilities of up to 800% provide accurate focusing on specimens, particularly useful in low-magnification applications. Enhanced ACT-1 software allows ergonomically friendly, on-screen viewing of live images. Alternately, researchers can use Nikon's EclipseNet software to capture, view, and archive images. Automatic filtering, sorting, saving, and printing capabilities are included.
