Fluorescence Correlation Spectrometer
Most recent version of the ConfoCor 2 Fluorescence Correlation Spectrometer allows molecular intereaction to be studied efficiently and with maximum accuracy, even in subcellular structures. The brightness profile was limited to the Z direction in the previous version, the new system makes this possible in the XY plane as well. The three spatial coordinates of a structure differing from its environment in brightness can be determined with speed and ease. The laser beam used in subsequent observations scan be automatically positioned to this structure with utmost precision. Thus, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy can be applied to the investigation of subcellular structures a few nanometers in size. The provision of a nano-stage further increases positioning accuracy by a factor of 100. Long-time observations of cellular processes are accommodated by the integration of a tailor-made integration chamber. Accurate control of temperature keeps the specimen in a stable environment throughout an experiment.
