Threaded Vented Cap Provides Sterility Protection
The Wheaton Vented Cap, for use with sterile culture flasks and bottles, provides an inexpensive, single use method for allowing the container to breathe or vent while preventing bacterial contamination. The unit, which consists of a 45 mm open top cap with a 0.2 micron filter that allows gas exchange while preventing liquids or contaminants from passing through the barrier, fits standard culture flask side arms or roller bottle fittings. Disposing of the units after each use eliminates potential cross contamination. A tightened cap provides a positive seal to eliminate contamination problems caused by loosened caps and aluminum foil during autoclaving. The flask or bottle can be cooled down and stored with the Vented Cap in place to provide a continuous sterility shield. Vented Caps are supplied sterile, ready to use out of the box.
