The Gel XL Ultra V-2 mini gel electrophoresis system includes an intelligent power supply, migration tank and gel casting sets. The unit and direct-connect power supply take up less than ½ sq/ft of bench space. The migration tank plugs directly into the power supply. Safety features include a pair of micro-switches that detect the presence and orientation of the lid and cut power to the electrodes if the lid is not in place. Power supply only connects in one direction, ensuring a proper connection every time. The lid is easily removed with one hand for quick access to the gel. Seven output voltages are available (18, 25, 35, 50, 70, 100, and 135 volts) to optimize separation conditions, and a digital timer can be set to shut off power and sound an alarm at the end of a run. The power supply easily detaches for thorough cleaning of the gel tank.
