Detect Threatening Biological Agents
Millipore Ultrafree and Microcon centrifugal filters are suitable for use in the genomic-based identification of hazardous airborne biological agents, a critical biodefense application. Ultrafree centrifugal devices contain a microporous membrane that quickly clarifies microbiological samples. Microcon centrifugal devices include an ultrafiltration membrane, which conveniently purifies microbial DNA after PCR amplification. Size-exclusion ultrafiltration technology allows for single-spin purification of PCR-amplified DNA without alcohol precipitation or bind-wash-elute protocols. After centrifugation, the purified DNA is immediately ready for sequencing or other analyses.
