EnVISION non-mutagenic fluorescent DNA stain (Amresco, Inc., Solon, OH) is supplied in the firm’s 6× loading buffer. The fluorescent reagent forms a complex with the sample DNA before electrophoresis. Bands are visible immediately with standard UV illumination, with virtually no background gel fluorescence. Post-run staining and destaining are eliminated. The dye and loading buffer combination is safe and is used for routine analysis of DNA fragments and high throughput screening. Ames testing has concluded that the stain is non-mutagenic.
