The luxury lake house of HealthSouth founder Richard Scrushy is on the auction block.
The largest share of the proceeds is set to go to HealthSouth Corp., which was threatened with bankruptcy from his tenure as chief executive.
The Tallapoosa County sheriff is set to auction the Lake Martin house, an airplane hangar and two adjacent lots on Monday. The properties were seized by the sheriff this year after HealthSouth shareholders gained control of them through the courts.
Scrushy, 57, is in federal prison for bribing former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman. In May he was found liable for the fraud that engulfed HealthSouth in 2002 and ordered to pay $2.8 billion in damages.
