Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a movement disorder resulting from degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta. The gene encoding human parkin has been linked to an autosomal recessive form of PD. Human parkin is a 465 amino acid protein of 52 kd that contains an N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain, a linker region and a C-terminal TRIAD domain consisting of two RING fingers on either side of an in-between RING finger region. Polyclonal antibody to Human Parkin was raised using a synthetic peptide derived from mouse parkin sequence (304-322). This antibody is effective in immunoblotting and immunocytochemistry.
